Volunteer to serve on a task force. Roberts Park is led by a Governing Board, appointed by the senior pastor, and managed through several task forces that focus on specific areas and ministries, which are open to volunteers.
This task force focuses on developing promotional campaigns, materials, and advertising of Roberts Park services and events to the community as well as helping to publicize them to the congregation.
Education Task Force members work to explore and create educational opportunities at the church. Current projects include discovering what interests church members and members of the community have, creating small groups, serving as lecturers or facilitators, and more. This task force’s focus is on spiritual personal development and discipleship and would love to have new members!
Those who participate on the Finance Task Force work to create a budget for the church’s ministries and help to create plans for fundraising to support the church’s needs.
The Staff-Parish Task Force functions as the church’s “office of human resources.” Staff-Parish task force members help to create job descriptions for full-time or part time staff employed by the congregation and work together to discuss pastoral needs and compensation. Staff-Parish task force members also work to support strong and healthy relationships between staff and ministry.
The Trustees Task Force manages the upkeep of the church property and facilities, helps to schedule routine maintenance and monitors adequate insurance coverage of the building. Members may also suggest contractors for repair projects and coordinate their activities. Depending on experience and skills, they may also assist with small projects around the building.
The Missions Task Force works toward educating and informing the congregation about mission opportunities around the world, recommends ways in which our congregation can participate in them and coordinates those activities. In November of 2017, the church sponsored a missions trip to Guatemala.
The Worship Task Force plans and coordinates worship and special services throughout the year, including Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter, Advent, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanging of the Greens, Pentecost and other special events.
The Shalom Daycare Task Force serves in an advisory role for issues involving the daycare ministry and the families it serves. Volunteer opportunities include serving as guest readers and classroom helpers in classrooms ages 6 weeks to 5 years.
Getting involved on the Member Care Task Force helps to strengthen the bonds of fellowship in our church community. Those who participate in member care can help with a wide variety of activities such as our greeting card ministry, making phone calls to home-bound members, providing transportation, visiting members, meal preparation in times of need and supporting families as needed.
The Hospitality Task Force organizes volunteers and develops ways to make visitors and members alike feel welcome and included on a regular basis.
Do you have a love of music? Would you be willing to meet three or four times a year with a few other like-minded people to act as a reference group for conversations around the musical offerings here at Roberts Park? We are not asking you to pick the hymns or the anthems we sing, but rather to discuss and help select what groups we may invite to use the building for concerts or musical presentations. What ways could we reach out to the community through music? In what ways could we improve the opportunity for our music to enhance the work and witness of the church?
