Several months ago, the Roberts Park Church’s Governing Board appointed a task force to explore the potential for construction of a new building, including a parking garage and space for a state-of-the art daycare, on the site of the church’s parking lot on the eastern half of our block. Working with Roberts Park member Jim Smith and his colleagues at R&B Architects, last month the task force completed a request for proposals which was sent to several developers in the area. In the coming weeks the task force expects to be receiving and reviewing responses with an eye towards making a recommendation for the Governing Board to endorse a particular proposal. We will then convene an all-church meeting after church on a Sunday, sometime in the fall of 2017, and the Governing Board’s endorsed proposal will be presented to the membership. On a subsequent Sunday, the District Superintendent will convene another all-church meeting after the worship service for further discussion and then an up-or-down vote on the proposal.
