Be part of the music ministry at Roberts Park by sharing your love of music and talents in a variety of ways. Whether you enjoy singing as a choir member or soloist, ringing handbells, or playing your own musical instrument, you are invited to consider joining with others at Roberts Park in contributing the gift of music to the congregation. Musicians of all levels are warmly welcomed.

Chancel Choir

Roberts Park Chancel Choir has a rich musical history and offers the gift of music during 10:30 a.m. worship each Sunday from September through June.  The choir also provides a ministry of music for special services and concerts.  Performing a wide range of inspiring music under the direction of Avery Schott and accompanied by Jerry Franklin Gillooly, the Chancel Choir is a highly respected and beloved group in the Roberts Park community.

Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8 p.m. The Chancel Choir accepts new members on an ongoing basis. Auditions are not necessary to be a part of this choir family, although a love of singing is essential.

Handbell Choir

The Roberts Park Bell Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 6:15 to 7:00 p.m. We have a 4-octave set of Schulmerich handbells, and a 2-octave set of handchimes. We currently ring three of the octaves with a membership of 10 ringers and could use one or two more.

It is helpful to be able to read music if you would like to participate in the Bell Choir. However, if it’s been awhile since you have participated in a musical group, we can color code your music to aid you in remembering your music-reading skills. The Bell Choir rings about once a month at the Sunday 10:30 a.m. service and for special services.  Rehearsals begin in mid-August and run through the end of May.

Matthew’s Voices: Side-by-Side

The newest Roberts Park choir, Matthew’s Voices: Side-by-Side, was formed in July 2016. We invite homeless and severely disadvantaged people in Indianapolis to experience the joy of choral singing, enjoy companionship and support, and share their voices with the community by singing songs of hope, faith, and love together. The group was featured in an Indianapolis Star article in August 2016.

Matthew’s Voices: Side-by-Side welcomes singers of all abilities. Rehearsals are on Sunday afternoons at 1 p.m. in the sanctuary. Follow us on Facebook — — for updates and news of our progress!

Music Advisory Group

Do you have a love of music? Would you be willing to meet three or four times a year with a few other like-minded people to act as a reference group for conversations around the musical offerings here at Roberts Park? We are not asking you to pick the hymns or the anthems we sing, but rather to discuss and help select what groups we may invite to use the building for concerts or musical presentations. What ways could we reach out to the community through music? In what ways could we improve the opportunity for our music to enhance the work and witness of the church? If you would want to be a part of this new group please talk to one of the pastors or the church office.

If you would enjoy sharing your musical gifts, feel free to talk with the choir director on Sunday morning or contact the church office at
