 | Robert’s Park United Methodist Church began as a Methodist class, or society, in 1821, the same year that Indianapolis was founded. Charter members worshipped in a log cabin until they built a brick church on Monument Circle. Construction on our current structure at the corner of Vermont & Delaware streets began in 1869. The name Robert’s Park was chosen in 1870 to honor Bishop Robert R. Roberts, the first Methodist bishop to reside in Indiana. Robert’s Park United Methodist Church has a rich legacy of sowing seed for ministry both inside and outside the walls of this church. Supporting new church starts, community outreach - including weekly feeding ministries and opening our building for use by other community organizations and churches are just some of the ways in which Robert’s Park United Methodist Church supports the Indianapolis community through outreach ministries. Robert’s Park United Methodist Church is a welcoming community where all can come to know themselves as beloved children of God. We welcome you regardless of where you find yourself in your spiritual journey because we believe that we all learn and grow together into the image of God’s beloved community. We hope to be a church that brings the good news of Christ’s gospel as a steadfast reminder of God’s unwavering love in an ever-changing downtown landscape. |
