Mission Guatemala

Mission Guatemala  is a United Methodist organization dedicated to helping meet the basic needs and improve the quality of life of under-served and impoverished Guatemalan peoples through health, education and nutrition initiatives, particularly the indigenous Mayan population in the rural areas of Guatemala, who in many ways are still treated as second-class citizens.  Founded by an Indiana United Methodist pastor, the mission is operated in partnership with the Mayan communities, providing badly needed services to the communities and employment for a growing number of Guatemalans.

Over the last eight years, Roberts Park has developed a strong relationship with Mission Guatemala.  During this time, three teams from Roberts Park have traveled to Guatemala to work with the mission team, and to learn from and about them.  In addition, for the past several years, Roberts Park has hosted the Mission Guatemala dinner which takes place each summer during annual conference.  The dinner provides an opportunity for conference attendees to get an update on the activities and programs being directed by the mission.

Mission Guatemala is now facing another great challenge.  The ten-year lease on their mission property is now up, and they are faced with the decision to either purchase this property or vacate it.  Your generosity could make a huge impact on the ability of Mission Guatemala to continue their work and the difference it makes in so many lives.  For your convenience, checks can be made payable to Roberts Park, with Mission Guatemala in the memo line. You may also make a contribution through PayPal. The funds being raised go directly to Mission Guatemala.  If you are interested in learning more about Mission Guatemala, please contact Richard Smith, Mission Task Force Chair, at rsmith@robertsparkumc.org.

Thank you for your generosity.
