National Back to Church Sunday

Have you ever thought to yourself that you wished a certain friend or relative would come to worship at Roberts Park UMC? Well now’s the time to act upon that nudge from God to invite people you know who don’t have a church home or have fallen inactive to get back to church.
On September 16 over 30,000 congregations, including Roberts Park UMC, will be joining in this annual movement to get back into the life of the church as part of their routine. Summer’s over. School is in session. It’s time, on the 3rdSunday in September to get back to church. We’ve got printed invitations for you and a little booklet called “A Guide To Easy Inviting” to equip you for reaching out to people you already know.
Have you got a FRAN Plan?
A FRAN Plan is very simple. Make a list of your friends, relatives, associates, and neighbors that you know who aren’t actively engaged in the life of the church. We all have friends and family who don’t attend, but what do you know about your coworkers, or people you rub shoulders with in community groups, hobbies, support groups and the like? And what about your neighbors who live nearby? Make a list and begin praying for them.
Pray for the people in your network of relationships. Ask God to lead you to invite them. Which one is going through a significant life event like a wedding or a death in the family, a move, a job change or promotion, an injury or illness? Offer them support and invite them to worship. Make it your goal to bring at least one person on your list to Back to Church Sunday.
The best invitation includes an offer to drive them to Roberts Park UMC, or at very least you will prearrange a time to meet them at the door and sit with them in the sanctuary. Afterward take them down to Soup’s On for lunch, or offer to take them out to a restaurant.
Keep your eyes and heart open as more information comes along about National Back to Church Sunday. At Roberts Park UMC we are “welcoming all who seek to experience and
share Christ’s Love.”
