Sunday Nursery Child Care Provider (PT)
Position Summary
As part of Roberts Park's overall children's ministry, the Sunday Nursery Child Care provider creates a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for children ages 6 months to 2 years during worship. This role ensures that our youngest children are cared for with love, patience, and attentiveness so that parents can fully participate in worship.
Primary Responsibilities
· Provide dependable, safe, and loving care for infants and toddlers during worship services.
· Welcome families, assist with check-in and check-out, and communicate with parents/guardians as needed.
· Supervise play, reading, and simple age-appropriate activities.
· Maintain a safe, clean nursery environment.
· Follow church child protection policies and immediately report any concerns.
· Ensure toys, equipment, and supplies are sanitized and safely stored after use.
Qualifications
· Experience caring for infants and toddlers (nursery, daycare, babysitting, or similar).
· Warm, patient, and attentive in working with young children.
· Dependable and punctual.
· Ability to interact kindly and professionally with parents/guardians.
· Completion of background check and adherence to church child protection policies required.
Hours & Compensation
· Sundays, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. (with possible additional hours for special services and church events).
· Compensation: $15/hr

Daycare Teacher
Job Description
This position is established to provide safe, welcoming childcare for children at Shalom Daycare Ministry. The successful applicant will support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts. Job requires managing and overseeing the daily operation of the classroom.
Essential Duties
• Welcome children arriving to school by greeting them, helping them remove outerwear, and selecting activities of interest to them.
• Promote a positive attitude while at work, during interactions with other childcare providers, parents, children and other members and staff at Shalom Daycare.
• Redirect children and recommend or initiate other measures to modify inappropriate behavior.
• Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.
• Teach basic skills such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.
• Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
• Communicate with children's parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues. Share positive comments.
• Maintain a safe play environment. Sanitize toys and play equipment.
• Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas.
• Instruct children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
• Serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.
• Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
• Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered.
• Talk with and interact with the children.
• Create a cheerful and pleasant room.
• Attend all required meetings and trainings.
Job Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 21 years of age.
• At least one (1) year experience in Early Childhood setting.
• Knowledge of how to make lesson plans that meet the needs of each child resulting in the children reaching their full potential.
• Ability to submit requests for supplies such as crayons, markers, paper; anything needed to assist the children in their daily routine.
• Ability to post lesson plans prior to the start of each week.
• Ability to assist the teacher assistants with the lesson plans as needed.
• Sensitivity to the needs and feelings of others and the ability to be understanding and helpful on the job.
• Must be reliable, responsible, and dependable regarding fulfilling obligations.
• Must be able to maintain composure by keeping emotions in check, controlling anger, and avoiding aggressive behavior, even in very difficult situations.
• Must be able to respond in emergency situations.
• Must be pleasant with others on the job and display a good-natured, cooperative, team player attitude.
• Must be honest and ethical.
• Must be open to change (positive or negative) and able to multitask.
• Must be able to accept criticism and deal calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.

Teacher Assistant

• Promote a positive attitude while at work, during interactions with other childcare providers, parents, children and other members and staff at Shalom Daycare.

• Sanitize toys and play equipment daily.
• Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas. Maintain a safe play environment.
• Instruct children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits. Assist in serving meals and snacks to children.
• Assist Teacher with instructing children on basic skills such as color, shape, number and letter recognition.
• Read books to entire class or small groups.
• Attend to children's basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers
• Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use both in learning activities and in imaginative play
• Know how to respond in emergency situations.
• Lead class if/when Teacher must leave the room. Listen to and be attentive when a child is speaking.
• Attend all required meetings and training.

Custodian

Essential Duties
Daily:
- Sweep and/or mop hallways
- Sweep and mop classrooms (1st, 2nd and 3rd floors)
- Sweep office on the first floor
- Clean bathrooms throughout the building (9 total)
- Empty trash throughout the building
- Clean water fountains
- Mop play area in the basement (winter)
Twice Weekly:
- Sweep offices on the second floor and 4th floor
- Empty outside trash
Weekly:
- Sweep/mop staircases and clean banisters
- Dust/clean window sills and other horizontal surfaces
- Dust/spot clean furniture, cabinets, etc.
- Sweep choir room
- Mop basement, east end
- Mop play area in the basement (summer)
- Clean kitchenette off parlor
- Sanctuary (including balcony, choir loft and organ area), Fellowship Hall, Chapel and Parlor, Conference Room and History Room
- Vacuum carpeted areas (twice weekly in Fellowship Hall)
- Dust mop hard floors, damp mop as needed, especially in winter
- Dust all open surfaces (pews, other furniture, window sills, baseboards)
- Staircases to Sanctuary (3)
- Vacuum carpet
- Disinfect hand rails
- Dust base of railing
As needed:
- Clean and mop Delaware and Vermont street entryways (minimum of weekly in summer, daily in winter)
- Clean windows and doors
- Dust window blinds
- Other duties as assigned or needed (room set-up for meetings, change light bulbs, plunge toilets, etc.)
- All work in Daycare areas must be done after Daycare hours (after 5:30 pm). Work hours in other areas of the building can be flexible but must not interfere with meetings, worship services, etc.
