Sunday Nursery Child Care Provider (PT)
Position Summary
As part of Roberts Park's overall children's ministry, the Sunday Nursery Child Care provider creates a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment for children ages 6 months to 2 years during worship. This role ensures that our youngest children are cared for with love, patience, and attentiveness so that parents can fully participate in worship.
Primary Responsibilities
· Provide dependable, safe, and loving care for infants and toddlers during worship services.
· Welcome families, assist with check-in and check-out, and communicate with parents/guardians as needed.
· Supervise play, reading, and simple age-appropriate activities.
· Maintain a safe, clean nursery environment.
· Follow church child protection policies and immediately report any concerns.
· Ensure toys, equipment, and supplies are sanitized and safely stored after use.
Qualifications
· Experience caring for infants and toddlers (nursery, daycare, babysitting, or similar).
· Warm, patient, and attentive in working with young children.
· Dependable and punctual.
· Ability to interact kindly and professionally with parents/guardians.
· Completion of background check and adherence to church child protection policies required.
Hours & Compensation
· Sundays, 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. (with possible additional hours for special services and church events).

Daycare Teacher
Job Description
This position is established to provide safe, welcoming childcare for children at Shalom Daycare Ministry. The successful applicant will support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts. Job requires managing and overseeing the daily operation of the classroom.
Essential Duties
• Welcome children arriving to school by greeting them, helping them remove outerwear, and selecting activities of interest to them.
• Promote a positive attitude while at work, during interactions with other childcare providers, parents, children and other members and staff at Shalom Daycare.
• Redirect children and recommend or initiate other measures to modify inappropriate behavior.
• Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.
• Teach basic skills such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.
• Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
• Communicate with children's parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues. Share positive comments.
• Maintain a safe play environment. Sanitize toys and play equipment.
• Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas.
• Instruct children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
• Serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.

Job Requirements

Resident Organist (PT)
(15-20 hours/week)
Job Description
Roberts Park United Methodist Church seeks a highly qualified organist/pianist who will provide dynamic pipe organ and piano music that enhances the worship experience and ministry of the church.
General Description
The Resident Organist provides leadership for music in worship, facilitating the congregation’s praise of God and prayer through song. Primary responsibilities include accompaniment of all service music, including hymns, songs, and choral music, as well as weekly solo works appropriate to the liturgical patterns and practices of the church. The Resident Organist is a member of the music staff and, accordingly, collaborates with the Worship Planning Committee (pastors, Music Director, and other worship staff) for planning and visioning of the worship life of the congregation. The Resident Organist reports directly to the Music Director.
Responsibilities
- Select and present instrumental service music (prelude, offertory, postlude, etc.) and lead congregational hymn singing in Sunday morning worship services.
- Play piano for 20 Minutes for God services on Wednesday afternoons or arrange for someone else to provide music. (This worship service is not being provided at the moment.)
- Provide organ music for special seasonal services, including but not limited to Blue Christmas, Christmas Eve (Christmas Day when it falls on a Sunday), Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Pentecost, and Heritage Sunday, and other services as needed by agreement in the Christian year. Attendance at these named services is always required.
- Arrange for substitutes during times of absence.
- Help maintain the music library.
- Play for weddings and funerals (with additional compensation). Consult with the bride and groom/families to find the appropriate music for ceremonies and attend wedding rehearsals as needed.
- Accompany Chancel Choir for rehearsals and during worship.
- Meet once a month (or as requested) with the ministers of the church to plan special services and/or specific music for regular Sunday services.
- Oversee the twice-yearly tuning and maintenance of the organ and pianos.
- Schedule and rehearse weekly with musicians for the summertime Ministry of Music during the months of July and August, when the Chancel Choir and Music Director are on summer recess.
- Accompany auditions for choral scholar recruitment. (not currently using choral scholars).
- Work with the audio-visual team to establish a proper balance of all sound sources to ensure helpful and effective musical leadership in worship and online.
- Assist the Communications Director in writing publicity materials, as needed.
- Assist the Executive Director with CCLI reporting.
- Assist in the development of new musical opportunities at Roberts Park United Methodist Church.
- Committee Responsibilities: Worship Planning Committee and Board Meeting as requested.
Instruments
- Sanctuary: Reuter Organ, three-manual drawknob console.
- Sanctuary: Baldwin Grand Piano.
- Chapel: Karl Wilhelm Organ, two manual drawknob console.
- Choir Rehearsal Room: Steinway Baby Grand Piano.
Qualifications
- At a minimum, a Bachelor of Music degree is required (an emphasis on organ performance preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to play pipe organ and piano required.
- Demonstrated ability to accompany choirs and individual musicians required.
- At least two years of experience playing in a worship setting preferred

Job Description

Daily:
- Sweep and/or mop hallways
- Sweep and mop classrooms (1st, 2nd and 3rd floors)
- Sweep office on the first floor
- Clean bathrooms throughout the building (9 total)
- Empty trash throughout the building
- Clean water fountains
- Mop play area in the basement (winter)
Twice Weekly:
- Sweep offices on the second floor and 4th floor
- Empty outside trash
Weekly:
- Sweep/mop staircases and clean banisters
- Dust/clean window sills and other horizontal surfaces
- Dust/spot clean furniture, cabinets, etc.
- Sweep choir room
- Mop basement, east end
- Mop play area in the basement (summer)
- Clean kitchenette off parlor

- All work in Daycare areas must be done after Daycare hours (after 5:30 pm). Work hours in other areas of the building can be flexible but must not interfere with meetings, worship services, etc.
Wedding Coordinator (PT)
Job Description:
The wedding coordinator is an event specialist for couples getting married. The coordinator is charged with overseeing big details to small details. The wedding coordinator has the added responsibility of respecting the sanctity of the church. Reports to the Executive Director.
An effective Wedding Coordinator demonstrates four skill characteristics:
1. Listening and understanding the hopes and desires of others.
2. Coordinating many different types of people and tasks.
3. Deploying and encouraging skilled employees.
4. A “go getter” who can initiate contacts and generate new clients.
Essential Functions
The wedding coordinator is an event specialist for couples getting married. The coordinator is charged with overseeing big details (such as the date of the wedding, coordinating with outside vendors, and confirming staff availability) to small details (such as the right candles for the holders). The wedding coordinator has the added responsibility of respecting the sanctity of the church.
The wedding coordinator is charged with the awesome responsibility of:
• making the distinctly sacred wedding event flow smoothly
• with reducing the stress on the couple
• working on a team committed to a professional event.
Essential Responsibilities
The coordinator will:
• Consult with the wedding couple and, where appropriate, recommend services.
• Arrange, confirm and supervise support staff.
• Coordinate with outside vendors.
• Schedule facilities.
• Monitor payment of fees by the couple.
• Authorize and confirm payment of support staff.
• Coordinate with the clergy concerning needs for the wedding service.
The Wedding Coordinator is considered a “Temporary Staff Member” engaged for specific events. The Wedding Coordinator is hired by the Staff/Pastor Parish Relations Committee and responsible to the Senior Pastor.
Detailed Tasks
For each wedding the wedding coordinator will typically be engaged in, but not limited to the following activities.
1. Initial Contact
a. Receive intake information
b. Check facility availability
c. Contact couple for initial interview
2. Initial Interview
a. Listen to the desires of the couple.
b. Show facilities to prospective wedding couples.
c. Review offered services and costs.
d. Confirm appointment with the clergy.
e. Confirm dates for wedding and rehearsal.
f. Once a deposit commitment has been made to use our services the wedding coordinator will be available to the couple (either directly or through the office) for consultation and assurance.
3. Follow-up
a. After the couple has completed the first appointment with clergy:
i. Confirm facility availability
ii. Confirm dates and down payments
iii. Contact and confirm dates with “non-clergy” staff (organist, custodian, sound tech,
etc.)
iv. Confirm full payment of fees 30 days prior to service
4. Rehearsal
a. Arrange for facilities to be open and prepared for rehearsal 15 minutes prior to scheduled start.
b. Help wedding party find and understand their places in the ceremony.
c. Work with the clergy in coordinating the rehearsal.
d. Confirm any outside vendor arrangements (flowers, photo shoots, etc.).
e. Confirm wedding license is present and in order (have signed when needed).
5. Wedding Day
a. Arrange for all facilities to be open and prepared 30 minutes prior to start of service.
b. Meet any outside venders and support staff
c. Greet the wedding party
d. Help direct the wedding party to their proper locations.
e. Help coordinate photo shoot movement
f. Take care of any last-minute needs
g. Coordinate wedding party to be in the right place at the right time Roberts Park UMC
h. At the end of the ceremony, help the bridal party and family get to where they need to be (photo shoot, reception, or other)
i. Confirm the marriage license is signed appropriately, photo copy the signed license, send by registered mail the original signed document.
j. Following the wedding make sure the facilities are clean and ready for use.
6. Follow up: 30 Days After the Wedding
a. Send a “thank you – bless your new family” note to the newlyweds
7. Between Weddings
a. Initiate contacts with potential couples.
b. Maintain wedding supplies.
Assumption of Time
Each Wedding is expected to use 10.25 to 11.75 hours:
Initial interview with contact person (.25 hours)
Couple intake (include tour of sanctuary) and contract review (1 to 2.5 hours)
Confirm calendar with facilities and Pastor, arrange for personnel including organist, custodian, etc. (.5 hours)
Synchronize deliveries and facilities (.5 hours)
Track payments (.5 hours)
Rehearsal (2.5 hours)
Wedding (5 hours)
Compensation per wedding Chapel Sanctuary bonus*
Coordinator 150.00 + For each “non-member” wedding the coordinator generates, the coordinator receives an additional $100.00.
