The book of Ecclesiastes reminds us that ‘There is a season for every purpose under God.’ It speaks of contrasting a time to sow with a time to harvest. A time to be born with a time to die. A time to build up and a time to tear down. In other words, it reminds us that our human life and work is a series of beginnings and endings. What is true for each of us is also true for the church.
Today we can announce that Bishop Trimble has appointed Pastrix Carmen to the new role of Executive Director of Our Kaleidoscope Community Inc. with effect from next Monday the 15th of January. The new beginning for Pastrix Carmen will also mean her ministry as the Associate Pastor will come to an end on Sunday 14th. The morning worship will be a celebration of the work of Pastrix Carmen and a time to bless her as she moves into the next phase of her ministry.
Roberts Park, you should be very proud of the fact that through your help and encouragement, what began as a new ministry of the church has flourished to become its own stand-alone 501c3 nonprofit organization with its own Board and fiscal responsibility. Pastrix Carmen, with support from members and friends of Roberts Park has been able to draw together a community of people who, though perhaps weary of the Church because of past traumas, now find that they have a safe space to be their authentic selves and to become the people they feel and know they are to be.
In making this Extension Ministry appointment, Bishop Trimble and the Cabinet have brought in to being a first, a new thing for the Indiana Conference. Pastrix Carmen, as a licensed Local Pastor is being appointed to serve in the Executive Director’s role, something that the Conference has not done before with a Local Pastor.
Please join me in congratulating Pastrix Carmen on her new appointment.
Shalom to you, my friend.
Pastor Andrew
